What happens in todays game.
You put in the physical work, compete at a high level.
But sometimes players struggle with failure, lack of focus, dealing with pressure from parents, building a routine, time management. Those struggles carry into games.
A hitter will carry one bad at-bat into the next and all the sudden he's 0-4 on the day.
A pitcher will throw one ball and let it spiral into 3 straight walks.
This is common, it WILL happen. That means the player needs the tools to reset and get to the next pitch.
Recognize. Reset. Flow.
Present Performance foundation taught during 8 week course.
Recognize
Become aware of how you feel and think. Establish goals, figure out habits, and time management. Assess what adjustments need to be made pitch to pitch.
Reset
Use the breath, reset routines, focal point, releases, and self talk to fully flush the past and get back to neutral.
Flow
Commit to the now.
Full focus on the present moment. Intent. Compete Mode. Instinct.
Flow State.
Thinker Breather Doer
It is about learning how to respond and how to keep playing the game with freedom and joy.
My story. Why Present Performance exists.
Tyler Wagner learned the value of the mental side of the game starting at Bishop Gorman high school The lessons of intentional catch play, focus on doing the little things correctly. Over and over again.
Then introduced to Heads up baseball by Ken Rivizza while I was at University of Utah. Learned the green light, yellow light, red light method. Learning to become aware of my current state and get back to the next pitch.
Then inner game of tennis by Timothy Gallwey. Understanding the difference between self 1 the teller and self 2 the doer.
Mental ABCs of baseball by H.A. Dorfman. Learning strategy, confidence and performance.
Then the power of now by Eckart Tolle. Tapped into body awareness and the present moment living. The reduction of ego and need to judge.
Now I'm presenting that knowledge to high school and college players.
